Sign in to the account that should keep the result

Xbox tells users to sign in before code entry and says a redeemed code cannot be transferred. Confirm the intended Microsoft account, jurisdiction and any existing subscription state before redemption. A buyer’s country or crypto wallet location does not replace that account check.

Microsoft says another registered payment method can cover a remainder for an eligible purchase when non-promotional balance is insufficient. That partial-payment rule concerns an account-balance purchase, not a Game Pass code.

Use the recipient sentence test

“Let them choose a game”

Use matching stored value so the recipient can select an eligible purchase.

“Give three months of this plan”

Use a code that names that exact Game Pass plan and duration.

“I only know they use Xbox”

Ask for the desired outcome and account market. Platform recognition alone is insufficient.

No. Stored-value credit and a named Game Pass subscription code are different products.

What should I verify for a Game Pass code?

Check the exact plan, duration, eligible account market and any product-specific activation terms.
