Redeem the code on the intended account
- Sign in to Steam.Use the account that should receive and retain the wallet balance.
- Open the Steam Wallet redemption page.Choose “Redeem a Steam Gift Card or Wallet Code” from the Steam account flow.
- Enter the unique Wallet Code.Type or paste the delivered code, then continue through Steam’s confirmation step.
- Check the wallet balance.After successful redemption, the value is added to that account’s Steam Wallet.

The balance stays with the redeeming account
Steam Wallet funds can pay toward later Steam purchases. If the wallet balance is insufficient, Steam asks for another payment method for the remainder. Steam also says wallet funds cannot be moved or gifted to another account after redemption.
Do not redeem on your own account as a temporary holding place for someone else. The balance cannot later be transferred to the intended recipient.
A Wallet Code is not Steam’s native digital gift
A retail Wallet Code is limited to the user’s Steam Wallet currency. Steam’s separate account-to-account digital gift flow can convert value into the recipient’s currency when eligible accounts are in different countries. Do not use that native-gift rule to assume a retail code will convert.
